This Account Deletion Policy explains how RAZO (Rise Above Zero) processes account deletion requests, what data is removed, what data is retained, and your rights under Indian data protection law.

RAZO (Rise Above Zero) is a civic-tech educational platform based in Maharashtra, India. We provide online courses, AI-powered learning tools, and digital resources focused on leadership, governance, communication, and village development for Indian youth.

02Your Right to Delete Your Account
You have the right to request deletion of your RAZO account and associated personal data at any time. This right is governed by:
- Section 8 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) — Right to erasure
- Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011
Important: Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. You will lose access to all purchased courses, progress records, certificates, and community posts. Please download your certificates before requesting deletion.
03How to Request Account Deletion
You can delete your account using one of the following methods:
Method 1: Self-Service (In-App / Website)
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Confirm your identity by entering your password or OTP
- Read the warnings and confirm deletion
- You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours
Method 2: Email Request
- Email connect.razo@gmail.com
- Subject line: "Account Deletion Request — [Your Name]"
- Include your registered email address and mobile number for verification
- We will respond within 3–5 business days
Method 3: WhatsApp / Phone
- Contact +91 78373 80699 via WhatsApp or call
- Verify your identity with registered details
- We will send you a secure deletion link via SMS
04What Gets Deleted
Upon successful account deletion, the following data is permanently removed within 30 days:
- Account Credentials: Email, mobile number, password, and login tokens
- Profile Information: Name, state, district, occupation, profile picture
- User-Generated Content: Quiz responses, assignment submissions, community posts, comments
- Communication History: Support tickets, chat logs with RAZO AI, contact form submissions
- Preferences: Language settings, notification preferences, display options
- Device Associations: Device IDs linked to your account
After deletion, your account will appear as "Deleted User" in any public community threads, with all personal information removed.
05What We Retain (Legal & Operational Requirements)
Certain data must be retained even after account deletion to comply with Indian law and operational needs:
- Payment Records: Transaction history, GST invoices, payment confirmation — retained for 7 years under GST Act and Income Tax Act
- Course Completion Records: Certificate issuance data — retained for 5 years to verify credentials if requested by employers or institutions
- Anonymised Analytics: Usage patterns, crash reports — retained indefinitely in anonymised form (no personal identifiers)
- Legal Compliance Data: Records required for ongoing litigation, regulatory investigations, or law enforcement requests
Note: Retained data is not linked to your identity after deletion. Payment and certificate records are stored with a randomised ID, not your name or email.
06Deletion Timeline
The account deletion process follows this timeline:
- Day 0: Deletion request submitted
- Day 1–3: Identity verification and request confirmation
- Day 3–7: Account deactivated (cannot log in, but data recoverable)
- Day 7–30: Permanent deletion of personal data from active databases
- Day 30: Confirmation email sent upon completion
If you request deletion through email or WhatsApp, the timeline begins after identity verification is complete.
07Cooling-Off Period (Recovery Option)
You have a 7-day cooling-off period after submitting a deletion request during which you can cancel the deletion:
- Log in to your account within 7 days and click "Cancel Deletion"
- Reply to the deletion confirmation email with "Cancel Deletion Request"
- Contact us at connect.razo@gmail.com within 7 days
After 7 days: Deletion becomes permanent and cannot be reversed. You will need to create a new account to use RAZO again.
08Effect on Purchased Courses & Subscriptions
- Purchased Courses: Access is revoked immediately upon account deletion. No refunds are provided for partial course completion unless required by law.
- Active Subscriptions: Will be cancelled automatically. No further charges will be made.
- Certificates: Download your certificates before deletion. After deletion, certificate verification is still possible via the certificate ID held by employers/institutions.
- Free Content: Access to all free courses and resources will be revoked.
09Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. However:
- Payment Gateways (Razorpay/PayU): Retain transaction records per their own policies and legal requirements
- Cloud Providers (AWS/Firebase): May retain anonymised backup data for up to 90 days for disaster recovery
- Analytics (Google Analytics): Data is already anonymised and not linked to your identity after deletion
We require all third-party partners to delete your personal data upon request where legally permissible.
10Governing Law & Disputes
This Account Deletion Policy is governed by the laws of India, including:
- Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act)
- Information Technology Act, 2000
- Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (for refund-related disputes)
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Maharashtra, India.
11Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law or platform operations. When we make significant changes:
- The "Last Updated" date will be revised
- Registered users will be notified via email or in-app notification
- Continued use of RAZO after changes constitutes acceptance
